Bolton College Case

BOLTON COLLEGE
SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE EDUCATION SECTOR

The Project:

Ongoing social media management and content creation

The Challenge:

Bolton College is an educational provider in northwest England, in the Greater Manchester area. The College delivers 800 full- and part-time vocational courses ranging from STEM topics to the arts, as well as various skills-based short courses.

Bolton College's marketing team was looking to boost their engagement with current students and attract new learners via their social channels. They were seeking an external partner to assist with content creation, scheduling, and general account management.

The Solution:

Zoodikers has been drafting content for and managing Bolton College's Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts since July 2018. Each week, our team drafts a thorough content schedule highlighting specific academic programmes, upcoming events, student profiles, and College news. This content is drafted with the audience front of mind, and typically incorporates emojis, GIFs, trends, memes, and tie-ins relevant to the College's young learners. To support these posts, the Zoodikers team has designed social media assets and assisted in the production of course videos.

In addition, the Zoodikers team has assisted Bolton College's internal marketing team with account management and social listening. Through monthly reporting and data analysis, the College's strategy has dynamically adjusted to suit demonstrated audience behaviours. For example, Facebook's consistently strong performance in engagement and impressions has encouraged Bolton College to invest more effort and budget into this audience-preferred platform.

In the course of the partnership, Bolton College has seen positive impacts on enrolment and event attendance, driven by online efforts. As of March 2020, applications for young people aged 16 were up by 39%.

The Results:

-Over 40.8 million total impressions across all four platforms since partnership began

-Current applications for young people aged 16 up by 39% as of March 2020

-3.2 million total video views on Facebook

-Over 3,000 net followers gained
